I enjoy designing and facilitating management training in Reno.  It’s been my pleasure to work with many businesses, nonprofits and organizations to help them achieve more and do it more easily.  I help companies think outside the box and do things a little differently to get better results.

Great managers get more done with less effort and a happier workplace.  I train forward-thinking managers to get out of emergency mode and move toward balance.  It takes a shift in the way we think and behave but the rewards are that we get to enjoy managing more and avoid ongoing catastrophes.  Try the following tips to help you develop fewer headaches.

1.  Make a list of possible emergencies that might happen.  This will help you foresee things that you might not have in the past.

2.  For each item on your list, detail what you can do to deal with the situation.  This helps you plan ahead instead of simply reacting.

3.  Consciously tell yourself you will not react to chaos.

4.  Tell your employees that you will only allow emergencies to be discussed at a certain set time during the day, perhaps 10-11 AM.  This will let them know that you are non longer functioning in emergency mode and sets a new example.

5.  Plan your days in advance and follow your plan.

6.  Do not deviate from the plan unless there is an extraordinary circumstance.  This is to practice staying out of crisis mode and relaxing more often.

7.  Try not to hover over your employees or sound off on everything they do.  I encourage you to become a better manager by trusting your employees and letting them do their jobs.

8.  Make training and educational opportunities available to your staff.  Let someone else do the training.

9.  Make sure to take a lunch break and leave the building.

10. Enjoy not running from one crisis to another.

Effective management is about doing things that make your workplace run more smoothly.  Try these ideas and you’ll be on your way to being an inspiring manager.
