I like fixing things but it’s also valuable to focus on building strong teams and learning how to solve problems.  Here are some tips to help you work better with your teams and get more done.

1. Listen without interrupting or offering advice.

2. Allow yourself not to fix anything.

3. Give the person the time they need to say what they want.

4. Even if you disagree, don’t retaliate or become defensive.

5. Recognize when you feel angry or defensive.

6. Continue listening to the person.

7. Be calm and kind and set a positive example.
