Team Building and Effective Communication

Unconventional Training

I enjoy facilitating training seminars that help people go deeper, build self-awareness and think outside the box.  My training seminars go past informational to inspirational because I help people see themselves and others from a different perspective.

In the course of facilitating seminars and coaching professionals a common theme keeps popping up around the concept of fixing things.  We tend to be fixers in our culture and, from an early age, we are taught to confront any problem with a fix. If someone asks us for help or just wants us to listen to them we often give them an unsolicited fix.  When people talk with us about our behavior we frequently jump to look for ways to fix it.

We do a whole lot of fixing and not enough thinking and reflecting.  This leads to an approach to the workplace where everyone reacts to everything rather than sitting back a bit and doing some planning beforehand.

While I like resolving issues it’s also important to give some attention and importance to just working on things without fixing them immediately. Next time someone comes to you with a problem, consider the following possibilities:

1. Listen without interrupting or offering advice.

2. Give yourself permission not to fix anything.

3. Let the person talk to you freely and give them the time to do so.

4. Even if you disagree, don’t rebut or become defensive.

5. Learn to recognize the things that trigger your defensiveness or anger.

6. Offer to listen to the person again.

7. Always remain calm and caring.

The act of listening changes the whole dynamic in workplace relationships. Suddenly we can learn what other people really think and simply bond with them. This approach is different because it requires that, instead of talking or jumping in, we just let someone else tell us about the things they find meaningful. This approach greatly reduces hurt feelings and anger because it requires us to react calmly to anything another person says.

I help companies fix things through training seminars.  We work on helping people learn skills that will help them behave more productively and effectively in the workplace.  My training seminar topics include:

Inspirational Leadership

Team Building Techniques

Improving Interpersonal Communication

Increasing Staff Morale

Problem Solving Methods

Conflict Resolution Strategies

Running Effective Meetings

Effective Client Services

Diversity and Inclusion in the Workplace

Organized Strategic Planning

Practical Values Clarification

Productive Retreats

Imageine what your workplace (or your life) would look like if you were an expert at all the skills noted above.  Trainings seminars aren’t just about professional development, they’re about your personal growth.

If you are looking for training seminars that help you go beyond standard training you’ll be interested in my approach.  I don’t teach skills, I teach people how to interact better with themselves and others.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions about any of my services.  I look forward to helping you with your particular training needs.
